This is how the flowing and solidifying lava sounds. I recorded it under the volcano in Fagradalsfjall, Reykjanes peninsula, Iceland.

  1. The recent sight of quivering lava during my fieldwork trip has inspired so many new concepts for the immersive installation. The way the molten rock pulses creates these unpredictable rhythmic patterns in the audio. For sulfur-tinged recording tips, I recommend using contact mics on cooled lava edges to pick up the lingering heat vibrations while wearing a mask against the fumes.
