Some time ago I asked you which places or phenomena in Iceland you would like to hear. I thought it would be fun to go out with the microphone and think that I was recording a specific place for a specific person. Well, it’s time for the first note on the list. Piotr Strzeżysz wrote about “falling snowflakes”. I liked this idea very much and as soon as I saw snow in the sky outside, I grabbed the microphone and went to a relatively quiet, but also interesting place – the Urriðakotshellir lava cave in the Maríuhellar cave system. The snowfall was heavy, my car covered up within half an hour. On the binaural recording (I recommend headphones!) You will hear snow and drops falling in the cave. What surprised me the most is that falling snowflakes sound like… flowing lava!
