Someone once told me that the Icelandic language is missing on my map of Icelandic sounds. I agreed with that, but I didn’t know how to deal with it in the context of noise. And today I had the pleasure to record the sound in Holabrekkuskóla, where – among other things – the býflugnalestur method, or “bee reading”, was presented. In short, it is said to be a very effective method of teaching reading in which students read an assignment aloud in a short time (counted by a stopwatch) – and everyone does it at once. Hence the name. As soon as I heard it, I knew: it was going to be noise from Iceland, with Icelandic.
